Regius School

Vision and Mission Statement

The Regius School Board believes it is very important to have a clear Vision and Mission Statement that Board members, Parents and Teaching Staff understand and align around. We review these on an annual basis and have sought input on them from parents, teaching staff and our pupils.

"They are extremely helpful to us, and we test any decisions we make against them."

Roger Wilcox, Chair of Regius School Trustees
Our Vision
01/ Excellence in Education
Following the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, children are appropriately challenged and supported in their learning to achieve their full potential. Staff are qualified, trained and continually developing professionally.
02/ Family Involvement
Family is honoured and seen as God’s heart for nurturing, teaching and bringing up children. Families are encouraged to be an active part of the Regius Community and a support to each other.
03/ Culture of Honour
Children and staff respect one another and feel seen, known, valued and heard. Godly behaviour is understood to come from ‘bearing fruit by abiding in the vine’.
04/ Worship and Prayer
The presence of God is celebrated through creative worship and prayer throughout the school day.
05/ Knowledge of God
Children and staff seek to know and love God, they study His word and experience the working of the Holy Spirit.
06/ Nurturing Creativity
God-given creativity is nurtured and celebrated. Creativity can be found in every curricular area and there are regular opportunities for it to be expressed.

What our pupils think of the vision and mission Statement

Our teaching staff have discussed the vision and mission statement with the children during assemblies, to gain their understanding and input into them.

Our Deputy Headteacher commented “I think the children enjoyed the opportunity to participate in these discussions and I enjoyed hearing their perspective on and understanding of each area.”
What our children say about some of them
Do you think creativity is an important part of our vision and values?

"Yes, it helps us worship God in different ways."
"Yes, because without creativity we wouldn’t have most of our subjects e.g. dance, art and I.C.T are important subjects to learn and we use creativity in them."
"Yes, it helps our brains develop as they get older. Without creativity we would feel quite bored all the time."

Is ‘Excellence in Education’ important for us?

"Yes, It’s a foundation of school and why you go. What would be the point otherwise?"
"Yes, It’s needed for lots of things when you are older including jobs and paying taxes."

How does school help us learn?

"We have to be good listeners."
"We don’t just learn mentally but we develop physical skills too."
"We also learn from a Christian viewpoint."
"Textbooks, books and the outdoors are used to help us."
